To give fireline course instructors the tools they need to confidently and independently apply best practices to digital teaching environments.

In a pandemic environment, remote learning is becoming a necessity for NWCG (National Wildfire Coordinating Group) courses. To help keep firefighters fireline-ready, instructors need to teach traditionally in-person courses in non-traditional classrooms. This training was co-instructed by NAFSE communications and education specialists and NFFPC training working team members with decades of experience in fireline instruction. This workshop gave fireline course instructors the tools they need to confidently and independently apply best practices to teach traditionally in-person courses in a digital environment. This training included:
Fundamentals of virtual teaching and learning
Adaptations and best practices for fireline teaching
Practice preparing and implementing a lesson plan in a virtual environment
